The interior is simple and classic, with of course a sauna, essential to any Russian ship, the mess room, the kitchen, video room, etc.. There are 20 crew members on board, including four Arkhangelsk maritime school cadets. I didn't have the opportunity to visit the engine room but I could closely observe at the level of the hold No. 1, the work of the bucket gorging on urea and spitting it into a hopper. Urea is a nitrogen fertilizer commonly used on the cover of the summer crops. This finished product was loaded at Damietta in Egypt. I could also visit the various compartments techniques under the forecastle. The ARCTIC SKY is in Bayonne at least until Thursday 29 to unload 6,500 tons of urea. Then, she will head up to Finland to load sawn timber and will return to Egypt to unload. And who knows, maybe she will load again more fertilizer for Bayonne? A big thank you to Sergey for his kindness, and the Master of the ARCTIC STAR. |
